Hello,
I have a case here where I am trying to mount a Windows 2008 R2 server folder share to an AIX box. It's a funny case, so I'll type the history. I even raised an SR ticket with IBM, because I thought it was on the AIX side. Here's the link to my description. I even uploaded a solved solution on how I am configuring the mapping in an .rtf document.

Here is the story.
Last Friday I created a local user on the Windows box (regular user, non-admin). I added a folder and shared it. I could not mount it on the AIX side. We checked every piece of information. Firewall was disabled. I could map the folder on my Windows 7 PC. I disabled/enabled the IPV6, nothing.
Then on Monday (after a weekend as you may guess) surprise. No changes to the servers, niether AIX not Windows, I repeated the process, removed the folder and recreated it with all the sharing. And guess what happened? Yes, I could easily map the share on my AIX box. So it works. AIX is OK, Windows 2008 server is ok. No need to change anything in the Windows registry, no firewall getting in the way.
So what next. We have to move all our servers from one IP range 10.137 to another IP range 10.142. So, I changed the IP address of the server, the VLAN was also changed, etc. We rebooted the machine, checked the Firewall and it was enabled, so we disabled it. Could I mount my share on the AIX box? No.
Since I thought this had something to do with the IP address change and VLAN change (bare in mind I can mount the share on my Windows 7 PC) I removed the folder, recreated the folder and share all over again. Can I mount it? No.
Then I said, OK, let's put is back into it's original IP address and VLAN again. I repeated the process. Rebooted the box several times with the recreation of the shared folder. Can I mount it on AIX? No.
There is only one suspision I have. Something happened during that period of time between Firday and Monday that let me mount the share. What was it? Is there some sort of cache that is sitting in the DNS that is blocking the mapping? Subsequent reboots, running "ipconfig /flushdns" does not help. I made the IP change yesterday, today I still cannot mount the share on the AIX box. What is preventing me from doing it? And this can only be on the Windows server or Domain side.
Is there anyone who can help me? How can I debug this? DNS/DHCP issues?
Regards,
Ryszard
