Print Server via WAN

Hi,

I have an issue where I had a network of 100+ users on a single network at a single location that printed via a print server to a large format plotter. Some of the print files are very large.

I now have an issue where approx. 20 users are moving to a remote site. I have a WAN that connects the two sites. We are putting a new plotter in the same remote site. However, the print server is remaining at the main site.

My dilemma is as follows:

We do have a requirement where centralised logging would be very advantageous. Print management is also a bonus. So the use of a print server would be good. The problem is with the print server at the main site we would need to send the print job to and from the print server from the remote site. This is very undesirable across the WAN as the bandwidth is already a concern. Is there a way to harness the benefits of logging and queue management on the print server, but sending the print job itself directly to the plotter?

Thanks in advance,

Steve
