We have an application that uses a hard-coded Windows printer name to print, and for some reason the name of the printer is being changed within Windows Control Panel/Devices and Printers once or twice a month. There are a small number of people with the correct rights to rename it and all say they aren't doing it.
Is there any way to enable some kind of audit logging to determine which user ID is renaming a printer on a Windows 2008 server? Also, is there any way to enforce the name via GPO or some other method such that it can't be changed?
