I am trying to install a printer driver on Windows Server 2012 and am getting the following error in Event Viewer under the PrintService:
Installing printer driver - failed, error code 0x4C7, HRESULT 0x800704C7. See the event user data for context information.
Event ID 215
This driver is listed on Canon Oce's site as a Vista 64-bit driver (http://www.oceusa.com/tss/tss_product_detail.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302162637&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441902370&bmUID=1367585453575), and we were able to install it on Server 2008R2 without issue. Any ideas as to where to check to get this to install through on Server 2012?
I have tried playing with the INF file a bit to see if I could get it to load properly. Have had no luck though, and haven't been able to figure out more information on why exactly it is failing to load or what the 0x4c7 represents.
A search around seems to be very thin on results and no real resolutions to this problem.
Only other possiblity I thought was to try doing an export and import from the 2008R2 to the 2012 server and see if it brings it in ok then. But my guess is it will still error and there would be a bit of effort in that to only export/import that one driver/printer.
Any help and/or insight is greatly appreciated!
