We have about 10 Print Servers, about 250 network printers, HP, Toshiba, Xerox, OKI. All use Standard TCP/IP ports. All were working fine for several years until Monday this week.
Recently, print jobs on ALL printers began to delay about 40 seconds before printing.
When I look on the printer, I can see the job is spooled, and sits in a 'PAUSED' state for about 40 seconds, after which it automatically resumes, and immediately prints. If I right-click and select 'RESUME' any time after sending the job, it will print right away.
This happens when printing from ANY machine, Win7, Server2012, etc. It even happens when sending a Test Page from the Printer Properties page on the Print Server itself.
I have tried all of these:
- Added exclusions (for spoolsv.exe process and spool folder) in System Center Endpoint Protection
- Deleted printer from my workstation and re-added it
- Added new printer to the Print Server, and immediately printed a test page with same result
- Makes no difference if the printer is in Sleep Mode or says Ready, same result either way
