Printer works on all but one computer

$

For no reason, my printer stopped being able to print a second document.

I can print one document after a fresh boot.  But the second document gets stuck in the print queue until I restart the computer, or restart the print spooler service.

The printer works fine from other PC's when connected by USB, and also works when set up as a wireless network printer. However, If the printer is set up as a wireless network printer, I can see it and connect to it with the problem PC, but the second document still gets stuck in the queue.

I can connect the printer to different PC by usb, and share it on the network.  I can then print from the problem desktop with no issues (whether the job is rendered on the client or the host)

I then removed my old hard drive, and installed a new drive, and installed a new copy of windows 7, and updated drivers from Lexmark.  I plugged the printer into what is basically a new PC (software wise) and I end up with the same issue.

What would be preventing my computer from spooling a second document?

What software issue could persist even on a new hard drive with a fresh install of windows 7?

What hardware issue could affect spooling a second document both by USB or by wireless network printer?

I am at a complete loss on how to fix this other than buying a new computer.

SBS Server 2003  as a Fax Server

Is there a way to increase the time between the termination of a fax and the start of the next queued fax?  My phone line is cable and does not instantly hang up.  This causes the line to remain open and interferes with the start / delivery of the next queued fax. I suspect a registry edit?  Thanks in advance!

Printers are Offline

Good Day,

My name is Jaime and I work in the IT department at a college.
In this college, we gave the students an opportunity to work with what we call 'bring-your-own' devices and it is appreciated by them.

The technical environment is entirely based on Windows Server 2008/Exchange 2007 etc.
And also in this environment we have a server running as a print server which is also based on Windows Server 2008.

On this print server we've installed several printers, including 5 Kyocera FS-2000D printers. With the Windows 7 32-Bit driver which is also MAC compatible.

All the bring-your-own devices are connected with our wireless network and are placed in a special VLAN.
Most bring your own devices are 32- and 64-bit versions of Windows 8 and Windows 8.1.
A few mounts ago, hundreds of the students came back to school with new Windows 8 laptops.
And since then problems have started to occur when they require to print on these Kyocera printers.
The students are able to successfully install the printers from the printer server. And at that moment the printers work flawlessly.

Now here's the part where things get a little annoying (for me cause I have to actually deal with these students).
They go home, come back to school. And the printers will be offline.

I've got 5 of these printers on this location. 2 have our domain desktops in them and we never hear any problems with these printers.
3 of the rooms are classrooms where students bring their own laptops. And when they come back, start up: the connection to the printers will be lost and the printers are offline. (Even when we've checked the box to have to domain credentials remembered on their devices).

We've instructed them to then delete the printers > go to the printer server again and re-add them.
This should only take 1 or 2 minutes. But in reality it takes a little longer (It's up for discussion why this takes longer..)

My question you all is now:
- What could be the best solution to solve this problem?
- What can be a probable cause of this problem?
- Could it be resolved by renewing the printer drivers to the new Windows 8 32- and 64-bit drivers?

I hope someone can help me on this cause it is becoming more and more of a topic within the organisation.

Cheers,
Jaime

Deploying Printers using GP Preferences - Network Printer and Local LTP ports - Why local port for a remote shared printer?

I´m trying to create in user´s PCs printers (print queues) and i´m trying to configure using GP Preferences, insted Deploy Printers (old method). AL printers are shared in the dedicated print server as \\server\printer$

In the GPP screen, i have to type the printer name and the printer path (\\server\printer$), that´s OK.

But a mandatory parameter is the port (LTP1 for example)

It will be ignored?

Windows Server 2008R2 running Remote Desktop Services reports printer process does not exist when installing PDF printer, And when Installing network printers from the domain controller it reports it cannot connect to printer.  I can ping all network devices. I can connect to the internet.

On boot I get a netlogon 5719 error followed by service control manager errors 7023,7001 and a group policy error 1129.

Clients can connect to the remote application and RDP operates to connect to the server internally and externally.

The domain controller is another server 2008r2 box. I have scoured the internet but have not found any solutions that work yet.

Disable Client Side Rendering on 2008 R2

Hi guys, I have the following:

  • several 2008 R2 RDS servers
  • connecting to queues on a windows 2008 SP2 x64 print server
  • print queues running the HP Universal Print Driver v 5.3

I'm trying to offload rendering to the beefy print server. To test this, I setup a test queue using the HP UPD and turned of the 'Render Print Jobs on Client Computer' setting on the queue. I paused the queue and did the following:

  • connected to the test queue
  • printed several jobs
  • examined the spool file sitting in the paused queue

Now when I look at the properties of the job in the paused queue it says it is in RAW format which would indicate to me that CSR is still in place. If I use the Citrix Universal Printer the job is sent in EMF (as the CPUD cannot use CSR). I then tried to disable CSR using group policy on the RDS servers but the same results. Can anyone offer an explanation on this?

Error 0x800f024b installing x86 driver on Windows Server 2008

When attempting to install updated versions of my Lexmark Universal v2 PS3 x86 drivers on 2 of my Windows 2008 clustered print servers, I am receiving the following error screen:  "Unable to install Lexmark Universal Universal v2 PS3, Type 3 - User Mode, x86 driver.  Operation could not be completed (error 0x800f024b)".  I have 55 other Windows Server 2008 file and print servers that I have not had any issues doing this upgrade to.  It only happens on my 2 clustered print servers.

WIN32 error code returned by the print processor: 5 Access is denied

Have clients in a domain.  The Print Server is Windows Server 2012, as is the DC.  Clients are all Windows 7 Pro and are added to the domain.

I have set up Print Services for all the printers (HP, Lexmark and Canon).  Deployed it using GPO.

The printer reports no errors.  The printer was working fine before the print server.  The printer drivers are correct.  However, no print jobs work.

When run, error is as follows:

The document Print Document, owned by administrator, failed to print on printer Library. Try to print the document again, or restart the print spooler.
Data type: RAW. Size of the spool file in bytes: 99325. Number of bytes printed: 0. Total number of pages in the document: 1. Number of pages printed: 0. Client computer: \\PRINTSERVER01. Win32 error code returned by the print processor: 5. Access is denied.

I have granted full rights to the Spool directory, as is recommended in a different post.  I've added the users to Print Operators.  I am at a loss as what to try next.

NOTE: Adding the printer to the machines individually works, but to do this to 100+ machines is not practical.

Thank you

Hello all,

I have created custom filters in the Print Management mmc for Windows Server 2008 R2.  My problem is that when I log off the server, my custom filters disappear.  Steps I have taken to diagnose issue:

1. Run Print Management as Administrator

2. Log in with Domain Admin account.

3. Attempt to create filters with multiple accounts.

Can anyone tell me why my custom filters do not save?

Thanks,

Printer status is not available at this time

$

Hello,

I'll try to show how the company's environment is. We have a Windows Server 2008 Standard
edition which is our File server and Print Management as well. We have a total of 5 deployed
printers and all of them except 2 work really well. These 2 printers are exactly the same
"Phaser 8560 Xerox". All drivers are placed on the Server, so all computers download the
drivers whenever They need it for a specific printer. Example: a new employe wants to
print something on the Phaser 8560 printer but his/her computer doesnt have any drivers
installed. The installation is easy: Start>Settings>Printers>Add Printer>Network Printer option>Find a printer in the directory>Look for Phaser and add it. When I choose the printer and press ok it takes like 20 seconds to get the driver from the server and its all done.

Here is the problem:
Whenever I try printing something on the Phasers It does print but a message:"Printer status is not available at this time" pops up right away. The process of printing works but the message keeps coming up. We have almost 150 computers and all of them show the same message. We have the latest drivers in the Server.
With the old driver this message didnt use to show up, so I guess the problem is the driver.

Script backup printqueues

$

Hi,

I am scripting a backup of our printer queues using the printbrm.exe tool in Powershell on Windows Server 2008 R1.
In my script, I execute the following command:

PS> C:\Windows\System32\spool\tools\Printbrm.exe -s \\PRINTCLUSTER -b -f c:\scripts\backup.printerExport

I would like to create a log in which I can see if the printbrm.exe command worked well or not.
However, I don't seem to be able to redirect the printbrm.exe output to a logfile.
I tried the following:

PS> C:\Windows\System32\spool\tools\Printbrm.exe -s \\PRINTCLUSTER -b -f c:\scripts\backup.printerExport > backup.log

A "backup.log" file is created, but this remains empty.

I also tried to catch the exit code through powershell, but this doesn't seem to work either:

PS> C:\Windows\System32\spool\tools\Printbrm.exe -s \\PRINTCLUSTER -b -f c:\scripts\backup.printerExport
PS> echo $LastExitCode
0

If the printbrm failed or succeeded, the $LastExitCode is always zero..

How can I know from Powershell if the printbrm.exe command worked succesfully?

Clients:
Windows 7 x64 SP1 + current windows updates
Windows XP SP3
GPO with Point and Print restrictions enabled.
Users utilize Point and Print.

Problem:

Was examining a client's PrintService/Admin event logs and noticed some reoccurring entries stating the Xerox global print driver failed to install due to invalid signature, Error code=800f024b.   Upon checking the actual .dll versions present in \\PCNAME\c$\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\x64\3\, they DID match the version on the print server.  Odd why Windows would then be complaining about a failed driver install?

Other vendors UPDs (HP, Ricoh, etc) have not logged this error. The Xerox UPD is PackageAware.

Why doesn't ntprint.cat contain the correct hash for UNIRES.DLL?

How to see which documents has been printed

Hi,

In our company we have 46 shops with a black/white laserprinter. The last 6 months we see that some shops print more than 10.000 pages and other shops only 1000 pages. So I'm pretty sure they print documents for home use. I would like to restrict this and would like to see which documents that have been printed. The only problem is that all these printers are locally connected to the pc's through UTP.

Can someone help me out?

Ricoh Class Driver (v4) Won't print Colour when printing to a Ricoh Aficio MP C2500, Server 2012 shared queue, from a Win 7 client.

Hi Team,

Server Queue: \\Servername\RicohMPC2500

Client printing from: Win 7 Ent

All other printing is normal but the "Ricoh Class Driver" (Type 4) driver being used does not print colour, when printing to a Ricoh MP C2500. When the user selects colour print in the preferences, the job gets spooled and leaves the server queue, but the printer does not print anything - nothing comes out. The same print out comes out when printing B&W

Wondering if you can suggest any other settings to be configured or checked.

Server printers stop printing & queue print files

$

Server 2012 R2

This happens frequently, I have Lexmark laser printers shared by this server. When it works, the printers print from the clients. What happens is all the shared printers on the server stop sending the print jobs to the printer and just backup in the queue and show " sent to printer". I restarted the print spooler to no avail. What I have to do to get them printed is to reboot the server. That should not be the way to clear this.

Any ideas why the printer objects stop working?
