Print server Windows 2008 server - print spooler keeps crashing with hpb6sy2917_x64gui.dll file error

$

0

This issue is affecting the Windows server 2008 and the windows 7 computers as well.  Trying to identify why this has happened twice and determine how to fixit before the rest of my Server 2008  and end go down as well.  <o:p></o:p>

The error is in thehpb6sy2917_x64gui.dll on the server

This time around, I had to remove the printers and drivers with a regedit. I also removed all files pertaining to the 2917 package  in theC:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\x64\3 folder

Last time, 10/2/15 ,  I could clean out the corrupt driver package and then reinstall on the driver on the print server and all was well again. But this time, when I reinstall the M604 and M553 drivers it brings down the print server spooler again. I am frustrated to say the least. I have installed a universal driver so I can get the users back up but would like a way to find out what is causing the print spooler to stop on a corrupt driver. No windows updates have ran in three weeks so don't  think it was an update.

have tried forcefully clearing the queues by deleting files in C:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\PRINTERS as well... <o:p></o:p>

Event 4098 GPO Printers, Item-Level Targeting 0x80070bc4

Dear All,

I have a Windows SBS 2008 Server with a Windows Server 2008 R2 Terminal Server.  I deploy the printers using GPO, and I also do Item-Level Targeting to manage default printers.

When the user has no printers installed in his session, the deployment of the printers is going fine... The printers are installed, and the correct printer is taken as the default one.

When the user logs off, and logs on again, following messages appear in the event viewer :

The user '<user>' preference item in the 'Printer Policy' Group Policy object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x80070709 The printer name is invalid.' This error was suppressed.

--> Item-Level Targetting is no longer applied.

I already tried :

- Adding the Terminal Server Computer account to the printers security

- Played around with Group Policy LoopBack Mode

- Gave the user administrator rights

-...

I really don't know what to do next and the customer is really complaining about this.

Can somebody please help me?

Kind Regards,

Koen Verbeke

Windows Server 2012 R2 and 8.1 clients - printing rederiction - RDP block some printers from being redirected

Hello

I'm curious how to prevent our local printers to be redirected to all our clients.

When a user uses RDP to connect to our client his Printer is default but our printers are also there on list.

Now I know I can disable printer redirection and simply use "Add device" and select PC users printer but this simply won't work for us.

I know I can edit group policy by changing certain users from using certain printers and even saw "Rederict default printer" but I'm not sure how both of these options work.

Users permissions - will this policy effect only the client or? ( Don't want to block everyone who isn't administrator from printing)

Default printer - will it only rederict the printer from users PC which connects using RDP and from local resources Printer selected? Will it then set that local resources printer as default?

[ This is what I mean: http://i.imgur.com/E0KQpeE.jpg?1 ]

Found several guides on both "solutions" but some 101 full noob guidiance is required.

Thanks for reading.

I cannot for the life of me find links to download printbrm or printmig > Microsoft; why the hell do you make it so convoluted to access these basic tools?  I want to igrate printers from my 2003 box; and I can't do it because I cant find the correct bloody tool on your horrendous website! When I type 'Printer migration tool 2003' in a search box; I dont expect to be brought to a page about 2008 print services!!!!!   it's shit!

How to view a list of printer descriptions in 2012

Hi

I'd like to know how to view a list of print queue descriptions installed on a 2012 server;

This was very handy in 2003, as you can easily see the description field when you open printers & faxes.

I have tried a few different ways and cannot work out how to do it.

Thanks

Using Custom Page Size With A PrintTicket

$

Hey All:

I wanted to know about using custom page sizes (Print Server Form) with a WPF PrintTicket.

I wanted to do this because the PageMediaSize property gets ignored; although, if I commit the changes to the print queue,  things work just fine but I worried about race conditions.

The print driver I have uses the v3 model; is it possible to use "user defined" sizes with all v3 print drivers? and how would that be done with a WPF PrintTicket?

Thanks,

Michael.

Adding an HP network printer and receiving 0x000005b3 error

Hi All,
a user has a windows 7 Enterprise and this machine is joint to a domain. I tried to add an HP universal printing PS (v5.2) printer which is a network printer and it gives me 0x000005b3 error.

What I've done so far?
- Removed all the existing printers
- Installed the driver manually.
- tried to add this printer under local admin rights.
- tried Administrator account.
- Windows is up to date and there is no missing drivers.
- Other people are using this printer with no problem. This user is the only one having problem.
- This user is able to add/print on other printers with no pain!

The strange part is when Windows tries to add the network printer. so it means printer is known for windows and OS tries to get the driver from Windows 2008 R2 Printer Server. Wizard finds the printer and starts to download the printer's driver. Then it says"Windows cannot connect to the printer."
Once again:
PC: Dell 980
OS: Windows 7 Enterprise
Printer: hp universal printing PS (v5.2)
Server: Windows 2008 R2

Any comment/suggestion is appropriated.

Cannot connect to printer hosted on a Win2012 Server with a Windows 7-64bit client (Error 0x00004005)

$

I have a Windows 2012 Server set up offering print services to our network, there are about 20 printers set up all deployed via group policy. Recently, on one of our Windows 7 machines I am finding that I an unable to connect to one of the printers shared on the print server while other clients seem to be able to connect to the same printer with no problem. Also, the printer used to work just fine from this same Windows 7 machine.

To test things further I logged onto the Win7 machine as the domain administrator, connected to the print server and double clicked on the printer to attempt to install it manually (rather than letting Group Policy do it). When I do so I receive the following message, "Windows cannot connect to the printer. Operation failed with error 0x00004005.

I have done some searching but the only references I am finding to this particular error message involved users attempting to connect to a printer hosted on a 32-bit version of Windows from a 64-bit client. However, in my case both the server and client are 64-bit.

Can any one help me troubleshoot this 0x00004005 error?

Thank you.

hello,

i've tried creating a new gpo with the purpose of mapping printers to users on a remote desktop server. i am trying to do this via user config -> preferences -> control panel settings -> printers. the problem is that, regardless of what i try i cannot seem to add the printers. initially i used shared printer settings and item level targetting in order to test with one user. i have tried modelling around 15 times, also with tcp/ip printer but i keep on getting the same error - Event 4098 0x80070709 The printer name is invalid. i even removed all the spaces from the printer name but this doesnt make a difference - any ideas?

Elroy

Retired and deleted Group Policy Printers still in the registry and causing conflicts

$

Server: Windows Server 2012 R2
Workstation: Windows 7, 32bit
I’m always used Group Policy\User Configuration\Preferences\Control Panel Settings\Printers section to add and update printers. If a printer or server gets retired, I change the Group Policy Printer entry to a “Delete” and let it run for several months. After that, the Delete entry gets removed from Group Policy. Once in awhile, if a user logs onto a workstation they have not logged into for several months, the login process hangs at “Applying Group Policy Printers Policy” for over 30 minutes. Usually I reboot the workstation, have them log in again, and everything is fine.

Searching through the even logs, I see many events like these in the Application Log while it was hanging:
- EventID 1000
A device or program has requested attention. Device or application: C:\Windows\System32\spoolsv.exe. Message title: \\CSR|Retired_Printer_Server\{#########-####-####-####-############} Properties.

Which is strange because that printer server was retired several years ago. It should have been deleted with a GP a long time ago, or if left behind, not conflict with anything. Searching the registry, I found entries pertaining to the #########-####-####-####-############ guid here:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Print\Providers\Client Side Rendering Print Provider\Servers\Retired_Printer_Server\Monitors\Client Side Port\{#########-####-####-####-############}

The bigger problem is that I’m finding registry entries for old printers and old printer servers under here:

HKey_Current_user\Printers\DevModes2
HKey_Current_user\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Devices
HKey_Current_user\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\PrinterPorts
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Print\Providers\Client Side Rendering Print Provider\Servers\
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Hardware Profiles\0001\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Printers
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet\Hardware Profiles\0001\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Printers
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Printers\DevModePerUser
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Printers\DevModes2
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-18\Printers\DevModePerUser
HKEY_USERS\
S-1-5-21-NNNNNNNNN-NNNNNNNNN-NNNNNNNNNN-NNNNN\\Software\Microsoft\Terminal Server Client\Servers\
HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Printers]

I can understand entries not being removed from hkey_current_user, but why HKEY_Local_Machine, HKEY_Users, andHKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG? How can I remove all these old printers and printer servers from my registry? Is there something I’m doing wrong by using the delete feature from Group Policy\User Configuration\Preferences\Control Panel Settings\Printers?

Getting error Connect to Printer. Windows cannot connect to the printer. Access is denied. on WIndows Server

We are in a server 2012R2 Remote Desktop/Citrix XenDesktop environment and are having issues with non-administrators installing printers from the print server.  If an administrator installs the printer (and the driver downloads from the server), a non-administrator is then able to install the printer in their session.

Theses non-administrators are then able to install the same printer on their Windows 10 workstations but not on the server.

I configured 2 GPO's to help get this to work to no avail...

If this setting is enabled, users will only be able to point and print to printers that use package-aware drivers. When using package point and print, client computers will check the driver signature of all drivers that are downloaded from print servers.

i am trying to silently add new network printers, but my users get prompted to confirm if they trust the printer... How can i keep this from happening. i have tried disabling the "Point and Print Restrictions" in GPO i have enabled the allow non-admin users to install printers option in GPO. None of them work... i am still prompted to trust the printer... i have ran gpupdate /force i have rebooted, tried another machine on the network. The environment is 2012 print server, windows 2008 DC where the GPO was created/modified and win 7 pro client system both VM and physical machine...

Thanks

Windows Server 2012 R2 dual monitors

I recently installed WS 2012 R2 on my custom build but have been unsuccessful in setting up a dual monitor display. I have heard that others have had difficulty setting up a second monitor with WS 2012, and wondered if Microsoft Support has a workaround. I have 2 Radeon HD 5450 1 GB GDDR3 VGA/DVI/HDMI video cards on an ASRock X58 Extreme motherboard. To my knowledge, I have installed all the drivers. Help troubleshooting? Thanks.

Removing CREATOR OWNER causes Access Denied on Server 2012 / 2012 R2

$

On earlier Server OSes, manually or programmatically removing CREATOR OWNER from print queue security permissions works fine. But on Server 2012 and 2012 R2 we have sites where attempting to print to such a queue results in Access Denied errors.

At first I suspected it was incorrect ordering of DACLS between working and problematic queues, as at one site removing and re-adding the ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES principal resolved the problem. In this case 1 and 3 were reversed below:

Working:

  1. (A;OIIO;RPWPSDRCWDWO;;;AC)
  2. (A;;SWRC;;;AC)
  3. (A;CIIO;RC;;;AC)

Problematic:

  1. (A;CIIO;RC;;;AC)
  2. (A;;SWRC;;;AC)
  3. (A;OIIO;RPWPSDRCWDWO;;;AC)

Note that these are set by Windows, not us. But other sites show no DACL differences or other differences and still don't work. The problem seems common with built-in drivers, for instance "HP Color LaserJet 2700 PCL6 Class Driver" on Server 2012 R2. Can anyone confirm this is a bug in 2012 and whether there's a work-around?

Domain Client Printing Issues

Issues.

Symptoms and Scenarios that we have tested.

Domain Client -> Primary Domain Print Server -> Printer – Not ok, Jobs stuck between Domain Client print spooler.

Domain Client -> Secondary Domain Print Server -> Printer – Not ok, Jobs stuck between Domain Client print spooler.

Domain Client -> Workgroup - VM (2012R2 Testing) -> Printer – Ok

Domain Client -> Printer – Ok

Domain Print Server -> Printer - Ok

Workgroup Client -> Domain Print Server -> Print – Ok

Created a testing VM Windows 7 joined xxxx.com domain, tested mapped to domain print que and printed ok, but after restart pc or log in and log out, unable to print out. My Guess is it possible during that time the domain policy not yet push down the operating system. After policy is pushed on the operating system it will not be able to print.

Network is not blocked by firewall as all ports is allow, and the basic troubleshooting restart printspooler, restart server, remap que, reinstall drivers&packages all done, in windows/system32/drivers also given everybody written permissions.

Is there any policy that will cause this issues anyone can help?

Printers won't collate

Hi,

I'm setting up a new printserver at work, running on W2012 R2.
This week I've encountered a problem; the printers won't sort/collate.
In Word 2016 I set my printjob properties to sort and in PDF readers I set the printjob to collate (adobe, foxit and nitro), but the documents get printed as 1-1-2-2-3-3 instead of 1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2-3.
This is happening on a Canon LBP6650.

I have tried to use different drivers, these are the ones I have tried:
Canon LBP6650 class driver (from WUpdate): doesn't collate
Microsoft PCL6 driver (from WUpdate): does collate, documents are printed wrong and not on both sides.
Canon generic PCL6 driver (from their website): not compatible with print server.
Canon UFR II B/W driver (from WUpdate): doesn't collate.
Canon LBP6650 light-drivers (from their website, used for thin-cliënts): doesn't collate.

I've also tried giving everyone all the printer permissions, didn't make any difference.
I've also tried to set the printer to use PCL5, PCL6 and UFR, but all of them still didn't collate.

This is a big issue at our company, because some people have to print 12-paged documents multiple times.
Almost all of our printers are this model and they are all having this issue.

I really don't know what to do anymore, except to watch office space... :p

I hope someone will have a suggestion that might fix this issue.
Thanks in advance.

2008 R2 Print Server IIS Webpage permissions

Hello,

We use Windows Server 2008 R2 for print servers in our environment. I'm looking to get our help desk set up with the proper permissions so that they can manage printer queues via the IIS webpage that is built in the printer services role (http://servername/printers/)

It appears they can access the page just fine, but get an authentication prompt for the server when they go to cancel a document for a specific printer or anything. I have verified that they do have "manage documents" permissions for all printers within our print environment, it's only when they attempt to do this via the IIS web page that they run into issues.
