The problem we have is that when we select a printer, we have to wait approximately 20-30 seconds. It affects all the software that I use including Microsoft office products. It becomes more apparent when I use autocad 2014. I can have 20 drawings open at the same time and the way autocad works, I have to select the printer on each drawing. This adds up at the end of the day not to mention frustrating when you are in a hurry.
The server running the printer is in another facility in another state. So I am sure it is the lag from the network.
I read one article by someone who said that the system confirms that the printer is connected and online when making the printer selection. The printer I use is an office networked printer that I know works 99.99% of the time.Is there a way to turn off the confirmation of the printer so that the selection can be made instantly? I do not see this as a problem since the remaining .01% will alarm in the spooler.
Thanks in advance.
